healing chakra affirmations

There are basically two things in my daily practice that I absolutely do not skip.

Yoga, obviously.

And positive affirmations.

It’s true. Some of the most important growth and success that I’ve had both as a yoga teacher and as an individual can be credited to my daily affirmations.

They help me harness my emotions, especially those icky ones like anxiety or fear, and put them to use.

But what REALLY took my positive affirmations to the next level was when I used them for chakra balancing.

It’s true.

I discovered the healing power of the chakras years ago and it changed everything for me! Actually, I’m pretty chakra obsessed and have written lots about balancing your chakras.

In fact, I’ve even created an entire program that focuses on using chakra balancing to support both your physical and spiritual well-being.

While there are hundreds of chakras that mitigate energy flows throughout your body, I usually focus on the seven major chakras.

Before I share with you my favorite chakra affirmations, I want to explain a bit about how energy flows through the chakra system, what it means to have an imbalance, and how to balance and heal your chakras.

Then I’ll get into the powerful chakra affirmations that I use on a daily basis.

Ready? Let’s do it.

How The Chakra System Works

YouTube video

Chakra is a Sanskrit word that means “wheel” or “disc” because of the way the energy flows through the chakras. Chakras are the energy centers of our body, like spinning wheels of energy located at different spots along your spine.

Each of the seven main chakras are associated with specific energy centers that begin at the base of your spine and move up to the crown of your head.

Every chakra has a specific name and color (among other things, like healing gemstones and crystals or essential oils) that corresponds to a certain vibrational frequency. So each chakra is associated with certain emotions or experiences.

Sometimes our chakras can get out of balance and we’ll notice how this shows up in day-to-day life. For instance, the first chakra, the root chakra, is all about security and the instinct for survival. A root chakra imbalance might show up as anxiety or distrust in others. The physical symptoms of a root chakra imbalance might be gut problems.

Or maybe you’ve been grieving, so your heart chakra needs a boost. Or you’re feeling like you can’t speak up, so your throat chakra needs a tune-up.

This is where affirmations come in. By using an affirmation that’s specifically designed to heal a certain chakra, you can bring the flow of energy in that area back to a harmonious and healthy state. I love to work with affirmations because it gives me a specific focus and I can literally practice them anytime, anywhere to get back in balance.

How to Use Chakra Affirmations For Healing

When it comes to chakra cleansing, affirmations are one of the most powerful tools you can have.

Why?

Because our thoughts create our reality and affirmations can help us to get into a positive state of mind. When we are in a positive space, it helps generate a positive energy that can flow through the chakras, clearing any chakra blockages along the way.

There are so many different explanations for this. One explanation is that positive affirmations align with the healing energy flow of the universe, making it easier for things to flow and manifest in your life.

Another, more western explanation is that positive affirmations simply focus your attention and emotions on positivity, you manifest more positivity in your own life.

So when you open your chakras, you open your mind too.

To practice your chakra affirmations, first find a quiet place, get comfortable and focus on the location of the chakra you want to work on. As you say or meditate on the affirmation, visualize the color of the chakras and imagine that chakra color flowing into your chakra space as you repeat the affirmation.

The key to using affirmations is to truly put yourself in the feeling. Try to feel the words of the affirmation as you use them.

I promise you that it will make the experience totally powerful!

Root Chakra Affirmations

The Root Chakra (Muladhara chakra) is red and located at the base of your spine. Think of the root chakra as the foundation for all the other chakras, where your very basic needs and survival instincts reside. When it is balanced, there is a feeling of stability and security, trust, and material safety.

When your root chakra is out of balance, you may find yourself worrying too much, feeling lazy, and letting anger build.

Maybe you’re clinging to people around you who project a sense of safety. Physical issues might include colon pain, constipation, sciatica, lower back pain, hemorrhoids, prostate issues, or menstrual cramps.

Using these root chakra affirmations can help you to become more energetic, have stronger will power, and more endurance.

You’ll feel a greater connection with nature and a sense of security, They can also help you to feel more stability with your finances, mental health, wellness, and spirituality.

  • I am taken care of.
  • I am safe.
  • I am grounded.
  • I am financially secure.
  • I’m always provided for.

Sacral Chakra Affirmations

The Sacral Chakra (Svadisthana chakra) is orange and located just below our navel. It’s related to our creativity, energy, passion, and joyful experiences. This chakra transforms the root chakra’s earth energy and uses it for pleasure and creativity.

When your sacral chakra is out of balance, you may feel like you have poor boundaries and a lack of control around your sexual urges, or you’re sexually repressed. Jealousy, fear, sexual dysfunction, obsessions, attachments, or feeling detached from one’s soul or self are all symptoms of a blocked sacral chakra.

Using sacral chakra affirmations can help you to improve your creativity and have a healthy attitude about sexuality and your body while feeling accepting of others and compassionate to their flaws. They will help you to feel more vibrant, optimistic, and playful.

  • I am creative.
  • It’s safe to express my sexuality.
  • I am comfortable in my body.
  • I am in touch with my feelings.
  • It is my right to be joyful and find pleasure.

Solar Plexus Chakra Affirmations

The Solar Plexus Chakra (ManiPura chakra) is bright yellow and located in the belly, just below the heart. It’s related to growth, personal power, and control. This is the seat of power and the primary source of your success in this world.

When your solar plexus chakra is out of balance, you feel scared and anxious, leading to pent up resentment and competing with others in an unhealthy way. You might have trouble with sleeping and often feel stressed out (consider trying these yoga poses for sleep).

Using solar plexus chakra affirmations can help you to develop your talents and become confident and assertive with healthy, compassionate boundaries. You’ll feel like you know yourself better and trust in yourself.

  • I am powerful.
  • I own my power.
  • I am strong.
  • My work has an ease and flow.
  • I honor myself.

    Heart Chakra Affirmations

The Heart Chakra (Anahata chakra) is a vibrant green and located in the chest, over your heart. It’s related to unconditional love, compassion, and well-being. It is the center of your being and connects the lower three chakras to the upper three.

When your heart chakra is out of balance, you feel lonely and isolated. You might have dysfunctional relationships (jealousy, criticizing, fear of rejection), and/or co-dependence and clinginess. Lung problems, heart problems, and upper back problems point to this chakra being blocked.

Using heart chakra affirmations can help you to be more loving. You’ll be more welcoming to others and accept them for who they are. You’ll feel more empathy, wisdom, feelings of interconnectedness, friendliness, and have more emotional balance.

    • I am open to give and receive love.
    • I love and accept myself.
    • I forgive myself and others.
    • I am fully open to love.
    • My heart is full of love.

    Throat Chakra Affirmations

The Throat Chakra (Vishuddi chakra) is blue and centered in the throat. It’s related to how we express ourselves, communication, truth and it’s asking us to vibrate higher and create consciously.

When your throat chakra is out of balance, you may be afraid to speak up, or be embarrassed and confused. Or maybe you’re prone to gossip and lies which are signs of an overstimulated chakra. This can cause thyroid problems, TMJ, laryngitis, teeth and gum problems, and neck stiffness.

Using throat chakra affirmations can help you to have a strong voice, to express yourself fully, and to find balance between when you communicate and when you listen. It will help you to be more creatively expressed in the arts, but also in your life.

    • It’s safe to express my needs.
    • I love to use my voice and express myself.
    • I speak my truth freely.
    • I trust others.
    • I am honest about who I am.

    Third Eye Chakra Affirmations

The Third Eye Chakra (Ajna chakra) is indigo and centered in the middle of the forehead between the eyebrows. It’s related to our intuition, clarity, and our connection to the spiritual world.

When your third eye chakra is out of balance, you may have a lack of perspective, problematic priorities, or a lack of imagination. Maybe you find it difficult to concentrate or retain information.

Using third eye chakra affirmations can help you to find more wisdom and spiritual connection in your life. You might feel closer to Spirit, and a deeper sense of inner peace.

    • I trust my intuition.
    • I experience clarity every day.
    • My thoughts are peaceful.
    • I am connected to the divine.
    • I know my own voice.

    Crown Chakra Affirmations

The Crown Chakra (Sahasrara chakra) is violet and is at the very top of the head. It’s related to spiritual awakening and enlightenment.

When your crown chakra is out of balance, you may feel detached from reality and overwhelmed. When the other chakras have not been developed, bringing energy to this chakra can cause extreme problems, like a spiritual crisis and addictions.

Using crown chakra affirmations can help you to feel a greater sense of connection with all beings and become spiritually free. It’s also a gateway to deep wisdom and connection with the divine.

    • I am a divine being.
    • Everything is connected.
    • I am connected to the universe.
    • All is well.
    • I am at peace.
