How Registration Works (Same Process, Anywhere)

Yoga Alliance is based in the US, but it’s a global organization. To register as an RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher), you need to:

Complete your training through a Yoga Alliance-registered school (RYS)
Create an account on the Yoga Alliance website
Submit your application with your training certificate
Pay the registration fee ($50 initial + $65/year to maintain)

That’s it. No US residency required. No visa. No additional paperwork for international applicants. The entire process is online. 😊

Benefits for International Teachers

Why bother registering if you’re not in the US? A few solid reasons:

Global credibility — Yoga Alliance is the most widely recognized yoga credential worldwide. Studios and employers know what RYT 200 or RYT 500 means.
Directory listing — You’ll appear in the Yoga Alliance teacher directory, which students and studios search globally.
Continuing education — Access to tracked CEUs (continuing education units) that keep your credentials current.
Professional standards — Demonstrates your commitment to ethical, quality teaching.

A Few Things to Know

Some yoga teacher insurance providers (like beYogi) are primarily available to teachers in the US and Canada. If you’re outside North America, you’ll want to research insurance options in your own country. Many countries have local yoga organizations that offer insurance packages for teachers.

Also worth noting: some countries have their own yoga teaching registries (British Wheel of Yoga in the UK, Yoga Australia, etc.). These can complement your Yoga Alliance registration but aren’t substitutes for it if you want the global credential.
