Brett's Background in Somatics

Brett has been studying body-oriented therapy alongside yoga and the chakra system for over 14 years. She audited somatic psychology courses at the California Institute of Integral Studies as early as 2011 and has spent more than a decade studying myofascial release for trauma recovery as a bodyworker under John Barnes, PT. Brett trained as a body-oriented coach through The Somatic School, where she integrated approaches from HAKOMI, Organic Intelligence®, and ICF-aligned best coaching practices. In 2022, she completed a year-long intensive in Radix® Somatic Therapy. Her ongoing continuing education includes trauma-informed movement practices rooted in Thomas Hanna’s work, certifications in Jungian Somatics, and trauma-conscious yoga for both sexual assault and cancer recovery. What’s offered in this training is a unique blend of tantric philosophy, somatic yoga, and body-based life coaching — all rooted in yogic wisdom.

Lead Trainer:

Taylor Lorenz

Taylor Lorenz is a lead trainer and in-house somatic coach at Uplifted.
With over 7 years of training in Brett’s work (both online and in person), Taylor has played a key role in guiding and mentoring students through the somatic coaching process, supporting over 200 graduates as they step into their own voice and leadership.
Blending vinyasa, yin, and somatic movement, Taylor helps students unlock confidence, process emotions through the body, and move toward lasting transformation, not just temporary shifts.
A former full-time travel writer, she now works with students around the world, supporting them in releasing shame, softening into self-acceptance, and finding freedom through intuitive movement.
She brings warmth, humor, and grounded wisdom to every class along with a deep understanding of what it actually takes to move through this certification and integrate the work in real life.
